Overview
For the past two years medical students and faculty at the University of California, Irvine School of Medicine have been working tirelessly to create the UCI Outreach Clinic that recently opened its doors for public service on November 1, 2008. Your support and kindness will allow us to provide free quality healthcare to the people of Orange County.
The UCI Outreach Clinic is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization so any donation will be tax-deductible (tax ID: 95-2226406), and we will, of course, acknowledge your company’s donation in the opening ceremony program. Thank you in advance for any donations or support you can offer us.
What is the UCI Outreach Clinic?
The UCI Outreach Clinic is a fully functional, outpatient medical, dental, and pediatric clinic that offers full primary care, labs, pharmaceuticals, referral services, and social services at no cost to our patients. Our clinics serve Santa Ana, Tustin, and neighboring communities through direct health care services, health promotion and disease prevention, social support and case management, and appropriate referrals to medical and social resources in the community. In addition, we are a non-denominational organization that strives to provide the highest quality of care regardless of socio-economic or health status. As a student and faculty-run organization, the UCI Outreach Clinic is designed to provide training and to inspire medical, nursing, and dental students.
Underserved in Orange County?
Despite its overall affluent nature, Orange County has a significant percentage of uninsured residents. The level of urban hardship in Santa Ana is the highest of any city in the country, and the medical need is so great that the Federal Government consistently declares Santa Ana a Medically Underserved Area where 92% of undocumented immigrants lack health coverage. Currently, there are few other free clinics, and the primary low-income clinic charges $40 per visit at the bottom of their sliding fee scale. This is more than most insured patients pay for a doctor’s visit and is far more than what our target patient population can afford.
Caring for the thousands in Orange County without hope is easy:
Anything you can offer would be extremely helpful for us, whether it is food, product or gift card that we can raffle off at our events, or a monetary donation. All donations are tax-deductible and will be fully acknowledged at our next event, as well as greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance for any donations or support you can offer us. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
