Eligibility

Orange County residents who are uninsured and have low or no income, should visit the websites for MediCal (http://www.caloptima.org) and Medical Services Initiative (MSI) (http://www.ochealthinfo.com/medical/msi/faq-patient.htm#1) to check their eligibility for either of these government-sponsored programs. MSI is a form of government-funded insurance for those in need in Orange County while MediCal is the Medicaid program in the State of California.

New patients need to register for their first appointment by contacting the Hurtt Family Health Clinic. During registration, eligibility for the Medical Services Initiative (MSI) Program will be confirmed/assessed.

The UC Irvine Outreach Clinic at the Village of Hope is specifically for patients who do NOT qualify for the aforementioned programs.  If patients do not qualify for these programs and cannot afford private insurance, they are then deemed eligible for treatment at UC Irvine Outreach Clinic.

Conversely, if patients qualify for any of the aforementioned programs, they may be seen at any community clinic, including the Hurtt Family Health Clinic (HFHC) at the Village of Hope.

Student volunteers will continually help UCIOC patients reassess their eligibility for County Medical Services (CMS), MediCal, Healthy Families, and MSI.
