Undergraduate, graduate, post-bac, nursing students and volunteer social workers are critical for providing our clinic patients with continuity of care. Not only are student volunteers needed to ensure the clinic runs smoothly every week, they also play primary roles in patient education, patient check-in, and patient assistance programs sign-ups. Student volunteers must also be willing to take on behind-the-scene roles outside of the clinic. By joining committees crucial to the operation of the clinic, volunteers will have a unique opportunity to make lasting improvements to the clinic as well as take on leadership roles. At UC Irvine Outreach Clinics, we challenge all of our volunteers to improve our current model of operations in order to provide the best healthcare to our patients, so there is always room to contribute and learn here!

Roles and Responsibilities

At the clinic, volunteers will be able to assist with:

  • Patient Intake/Check-in
  • Labs and Dispensary
  • Translation
  • Patient Education
  • Nursing (Nursing students only)

Student volunteers must also complete the course elective requirement and be active in a clinic committee. The course elective and committees are explained in more detail on the elective curriculum page and student leadership page.

How To Get Involved

The student volunteer application process is explained in more detail on the student application page. Use the contact page if you would like to express interest in or ask questions about volunteering. All individuals interested in volunteering must fill out the volunteer application and be interviewed, if requested, before being able to join us on the UC Irvine Outreach Clinic Project.

Please make sure to also fill out the Lestonnac volunteer application. Lestonnac requires these from all of their volunteers. You can either email it to uciocstudents@gmail.com or bring a hard copy to the clinic on your volunteer date.
